wikipedia search engine

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

I read today on a newspaper that Wikipedia is going to launch its own search engine. (Wikiasari)

wikipedia search engine

As I didn’t know too much about that I have searched on te www and I found this good article in techcrunch

The Internet Encyclopaedia claims it will beat the world?s most popular search facility (google of course) by revealing how it determines which websites are given priority (google refuses to do it).

They will try to take advantage of accusations that Google favours its advertising clients in search results.

Anyway? Competition is exciting and as I read today on microsiervos (spanish), definately agree!

Are you living in 2007?

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2007 when…

Are you living in 2007

1. You accidentally enter your PIN on the microwave.

2. You haven’t played solitaire with real cards in years.

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of three.

4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don’t have e-mail addresses.

6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.

7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.

8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn’t even have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee

11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : )

12. You’re reading this and nodding and laughing.

13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn’t a #9 on this list.

Hehehe! Mmm… The 16. could be “GOOGLE BUYS FEEDBURNER…”

Pilun has just sent me this mail (the subject was: ‘FOR YOUR BLOG’), I think he is starting to get involved on this blog… :) thx mate!

google recommendations?

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Another google widget!

google recommendations?Few months ago I wrote a post about google and how was adopting new privacy measures to make it more difficult to identify people making online searches…

But today I read exactly the opposite! Google is planning to collect personal information on its users it will be able to advise them on what jobs to apply for and what to do on their days off.
They are on a race to create the most comprehensive database of users information so they will be able to attract more personalised adeverts.

“The goal is to enable Google users to ask the question such as, ‘What shall I do tomorrow?’, and, ‘What job shall I take?’

Google is developing a service called google recommendations where the search suggests thing the user might like, based on their previous preferences. Amazing isn’it?

Privacy campaigners are concerned about privacy but google said that its personalisation services are optional. Mmmm…

At least they can only store information to two years!

I was thinking would be cool to have a button as in browsers to delete info/cookies/history… from google, what do you think?

This blog has ruined my life!

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

My flatmate Pilun has sent me this text today:

This blog has ruined my life!

“This blog has ruined my life! Before Fruco, my flatmate, started with this blog my life was bright and interesting! We used to have deep conversations, go to life gigs, drink beer and play football. All that is over now! He is all the time writing this fu**ing blog. I am so alone that I have started to talk to a sock! I hope at least you guys like it cause this blog has ruined my life!”

Of course! He is the one in the picture!
It’s not that bad mate… :)

eco-meme: blogger environment job

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Climate change is happening! We have a environment job!

eco-meme

I have received a good meme (a unit of cultural information transferred from one individual to another analogous) from Javier Ferraz which I think is an extraordinary contribution in the fight against global warming and all bloggers should get involved!

The message was:

“Each invited blogger, get the moral duty to contribute as far as he can with the environment (by making small changes in our daily lives), encouraging his neighborhood (bloggers) and asking for fight climate change commitment.”

translated as best I can :)

Here are my contributions (I am going to):

1. Recycle consistently
2. Buy organic food (not every day…)
3. Cut down on my car/motorbike usage

and encouraging other bloggers:

Joan Pinyol, Jason Clark, Jem Hem Acharya and astroasno used to comment on this blog… (come on guys join the eco-meme!)

It’s nice to know that I have helped with my 2 cents!

fair use - art and copyright - disney parody explanation

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

what the f**k is fair use? lately everyone is talking about the copyright… art and copyright!

via enriquedans I have found this interesting video from Eric Faden, Bucknell University’s teacher, that explains on a very original way the meaning of
fair use, using copyrighted material (video) from Disney without requiring permission.

Almost 10 minutes of pictures, songs, logos, scences from Disney that don’t violate the copyright laws at no time.

belgium senate candidate will give 40,000 blowjobs

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Oh my god! At last a proper politician! long live to Tanja Derveaux!

senate candidate in Belgium

The Belgium NEE senate candidate, Tanja Derveaux, wants to heat up the environment with a very original and incredible promise: she guarantees a surprise to everyone who is registered on the list to join the 40.000 blowjobs that she has promised to on her provocative campaign by Internet. At least she has already posed naked? who knows?

“I am the leading NEE party senate candidate in Belgium. And due to popular demand, I will give 40,000 blowjobs to anyone who requests one on this page”

I think is going to be quite difficult voting, anyway! Shame I am not a Belgian to vote her! do you know if can naturalize as Belgian?

There are many ways to raise your salary, but I think this one is infallible!

how to raise your salary

“if you don’t give me a big salary raise, i’ll tell the rest of the office that you already have”

Original text was translated from spanish: ‘Si mo me sube el sueldo le dir? a los dem?s que me lo ha subido’

If you think there is a faster, cheaper and easier way to raise your salary, please drop a line in the comments and let me know. I have not tried this one yet :)
