Stage 6 or Youtube? Stage6! (by far)

Even though I have some videos posted on youtube, I have to admit that stage6 is much better than youtube…

Stage6 isn’t another place for people who love video to post videos, share videos, download and watch streaming videos (as they descript their website).
It’s from DivX, the video company well known for its coding and compression technology and has a lot of advantatges: load videos is pretty much faster than the rest, is very easy to download the movie/video straight to your computer (clicking a link), no limit size uploading videos and the main one: there’s nothing better on internet on quality of video image, simply amazing high quality!

Thanks to Stage6 we can enjoy some websites to watch divx fimls, this is the case of joox.net or yendit.com (its spanish version)… using copyrighted material? is it allowed by fair use? We will see…

graffitti, it’s a fun crime!

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

I have found this picture (taken in London) via spam

graffitti, it?s a fun crime!

Don’t lose your oportunity! Sometimes the most complicated of situations are the most enjoyable! Do you think a girl wrote it? I think so…

I like another one with this sentence: “If liberty means anything at all it means the right to tell people what they don’t want to hear”.

Perhaps are good ones for microsiervos!

mi confesion - gotan project

Monday, June 18th, 2007

This guys really help me during my working hours! This song: Mi Confesion.

Philippe Cohen Solal (French), Eduardo Makaroff (Argentine) and Christoph H. M?ller (Swiss) form Gotan Project (based on Paris).

Their music, clearly tango, mixed with electronic elements (samples, beats and breaks) chills me out.

I used to listen a lot his firsts albums:

  • Vuelvo Al Sur/El Capitalismo Foraneo (2000)
  • La Revancha del Tango (2001)

Which kind of music are you used to listen at work? Which website do you use?

diego el cigala london

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

I have just arrived from another awesome concert in London! Pure Spanish Flamenco with Diego el Cigala on Barbican Center

diego el cigala london

El Cigala (gipsy cantaor born in ‘El Barrio’, Madrid), with his charismatic gravelly voice, played songs form his last two albums “Picasso en mis ojos” and “L?grimas negras” on a passionate way (though some problems with the sound), transmiting the good vibrations to everyone on the gig.

Diego El Cigala with the support of great artists: a piano, a cello, a spanish guita and a drum (”caja“, an acustic box?, I don’t know how to translate this… hehe), who accompanied him on a sublime way, sang a couple of songs “de buleria” and finish the concert dancing, making the crowd enjoy from the begining til the end.

The suppot band (orchestra), accordion maestro Lubenov Orkestar (Bulgarian), played amazing as well, mixing rumba, jazz, tango, gipsy… pretty well this guys!

Anyway, It was really cool arriving at home and find some friends and my girlfriend waiting for me with spanish food (omelettes, ham and wine).

Thank you very much Matt!! Was a great night!

prince, 21 dates in london

Monday, June 11th, 2007

Prince has announced 21 dates in London as part of his Earth Tour.

The concerts will take place this summer (August) and will kick off with seven shows at London’s O2 Arena.

prince, 21 dates in london

- Wednesday 1st
- Friday 3rd
- Saturday 4th
- Tuesday 7th
- Friday 10th
- Saturday 11th
- Tuesday 14th

In a typically innovative move, Prince is bypassing the normal distribution system and fans will be able to get a copy of his new album free with their ticket.

The tickets are not cheap at all (up to ?200), I hope concerts are not transforming to be a luxury article (everyone can’t afford such prices)… but at least are going to be special gigs that for sure everyone in them will enjoy and remember for ever, I used to keep my ticket, but I think is much better have the album.

I am not going (too much money), but I posted because I liked the idea of getting copies of his new album for free, artists should start exploring new ways to attrack fans.

secret wars - painting battles

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

When I came to London I knew that the city was going to give me a lot of chances, opportunities and cool things to do/view… I think this could almost certify I was right…

secret wars

Have you watched 8 Miles? Do you know what a MC battle is? What about change the fact and “fight” painting isntead of rhyming?

The rueles are simple, each competitor has 90 minutes, a blank canvas and an arsenal of marker pens and paints to get doodling with (only black & white).

Started as graffitty battle between two design collectives has grown to encompass club nights of the UK. With two battles each date, the artists “fight” on a different formats:

  • Tag Team: Based on WWF matches.
  • All Star: One artist vs. another.
  • Royal Rumble: artists jumping in the ring. A fast placed battle.
  • Weapon of choice: Each artist choose one tool (spray, markers,…) for the battle.
  • Freestyle: The crowd chooses the art theme.

secret wars title

The winner is decided by guest judges and a clap-o-meter, which registers the 400-strong crowd’s decisive vote.
