secret wars – painting battles
When I came to London I knew that the city was going to give me a lot of chances, opportunities and cool things to do/view… I think this could almost certify I was right…
Have you watched 8 Miles? Do you know what a MC battle is? What about change the fact and “fight” painting isntead of rhyming?
The rueles are simple, each competitor has 90 minutes, a blank canvas and an arsenal of marker pens and paints to get doodling with (only black & white).
Started as graffitty battle between two design collectives has grown to encompass club nights of the UK. With two battles each date, the artists “fight” on a different formats:
- Tag Team: Based on WWF matches.
- All Star: One artist vs. another.
- Royal Rumble: artists jumping in the ring. A fast placed battle.
- Weapon of choice: Each artist choose one tool (spray, markers,…) for the battle.
- Freestyle: The crowd chooses the art theme.
The winner is decided by guest judges and a clap-o-meter, which registers the 400-strong crowd’s decisive vote.
