Hand-Drawn Maps Of King’s Cross – London

5th March 2010

The guys from Londonist had a very good idea, they ask their readers to draw a map of their local area in order to revive homemade maps.

Google Maps are all very well for presenting information. But where’s the charm? Where’s the love? Reminded earlier this week about the special allure of hand-drawn charts, we thought it’d be fun to revive the idea of homemade cartography.

I’ve found it very interesting, so I’ve done my best with my local area: King’s Cross

The Best CGI Ever

3rd February 2010

Hi there,

I had a lovely Korean dinner (thanks Elle, Hamish and Sam) last Friday. Hamish is a master in 3D and After Effects and at the end of the night, (after few beers and shots, I have to say) he showed us what he thinks is the masterpiece of CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery): The Third and the Seventh . We actually loved it so I think you will too, check it out.

It’s pure architecture through the cinematographic lens. A full-CG animated piece that tries to illustrate art across a photographic point of view where main subjects are already-built spaces

Directed, modeling, textured, illumination and rendering by Alex Roman with a very low budget.

Fullscreen it, please

Augmented (hyper)Reality

27th January 2010

This is (hyper)awesome!

The latter half of the 20th century saw the built environment merged with media space, and architecture taking on new roles related to branding, image and consumerism. Augmented reality may re-contextualize the functions of consumerism and architecture, and change in the way in which we operate within it.

A film produced by Keiichi Matsuda, a Master’s student at the Bartlett School of Architecture and it’s part of a larger project about the social and architectural consequences of new media and augmented reality.

Can you imagine your life like this? And here I am, writing this while waiting for today’s apple keynote :p

piano stairs

9th October 2009

Since I bought my motorbike I don’t use much the underground in London but I’d love to if…

We believe that the easiest way to change people’s behaviour for the better is by making it fun to do. We call it The fun theory.

66% more people than normal chose the stairs over the escalator, wow!!
